The Court of Justice of the European Union provided interpretive guidance on the concept of «extraordinary circumstances» with regard to the case where the flight was cancelled due to a strike of the staff of the air carrier, called in solidarity with the strike launched against the parent company of the air carrier, prolonged beyond the period originally announced by the trade union, in spite of the fact that an agreement was reached in the meantime with the parent company.
