State aid: the Commission refers Greece to the Court of Justice

On 2008 the Commission declared unlawful the State aid granted by Greece to Hellenic Shipyards, consequentially ordering its recovery (that amounted to over 250 million euros).

On 2012 the Court of Justice found that Greece had failed to implement the 2008 Decision.

Since nowadays Greece hasn’t already recovered the unlawful aid, the Commission has taken a legal action before the Court of Justice asking for, beyond a penalty of 6 billion euros, a daily fine of 34,974 euros from the day of its judgment until the date Greece will comply with.
