European Parliament adopted non-legislative Resolution on delivering multimodal integrated ticketing in Europe
On 7 July 2015, the European Parliament adopted the non-legislative resolution on delivering multimodal integrated ticketing in Europe, urging the setting-up of integrated, interoperable multimodal, cross-border ticketing systems. According to MEPs, the possibility of buying a single ticket for a “multimodal journey” would bring various benefits to transport users, and would attract more passengers to public transport.
For this reason the Parliament called on the Commission to take the necessary measures to support efforts by service providers and providers of journey planners to develop existing cooperation on providing multimodal and cross-border journey planners. The Parliament concluded that, if no significant progress is made by 2020, it will call for legislation.
