Air transport. The Court of Justice rules on the right of passengers to pecuniary compensation in case of cancellation of their flight due to a strike
The Court of Justice of the European Union provided interpretive guidance on the concept of «extraordinary circumstances» with regard to the case where the flight was cancelled due to a strike of the staff of the air carrier, called in solidarity with the strike launched against the parent company of the air carrier, prolonged beyond the period originally announced by the trade union, in spite of the fact that an agreement was reached in the meantime with the parent company.
Air transport. 16 airlines commit to protect passengers in case of flight cancellations
The Consumer Protection Cooperation Network of national enforcement authorities of the European Union and 16 major airlines reached an agreement whereby the airlines made several commitments to better inform and timely reimburse passengers in case of flight cancellations, including the commitment to refund passengers within 7 days as required under European Union law.
